About
Authess measures expertise by comparing learner behaviors in an open-ended, authentic problem with the actions of a control group of novices through experts. Authentic assessments based on the principles, knowledge, and skills connected to jobs will enable the assessment not only of what learners know, but whether they can creatively apply that knowledge to solve real-world problems. Authess assessments will help close the skills gap between education and job skills in three ways: 1) Educators can use assessments to track progress toward the mastery of job skills and use analytical tools to identify the best practices for teaching job readiness. 2) Students, by practicing on job-related assessments, will be empowered to take responsibility for their own preparation for job readiness. 3) Potential employers can use authentic assessments to readily identify the most capable candidates within a large pool of applicants and help develop employees.
